Full Time Opening
The Merrick County Board of Supervisors are taking applications for a FULL TIME COMBINED Cleaning/Maintenance and Mechanical Systems Supervisor.  Hours will vary and must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.  Must have a valid Nebraska driver’s license and be able to routinely lift and or carry up to 50 pounds for up to 25 feet.  Responsible for lawn care and snow removal in addition to general cleaning and sanitizing of the courthouse and general maintenance of building and grounds, equipment, and mechanical systems in the courthouse.  Work may be performed outdoors year round and in inclement weather and requires the ability to tolerate a work environment that includes contact with dust, cleaning solvents, and chemicals.  Employment applications may be picked up at the Merrick County Clerk’s Office, 1510 18th Street, Central City, NE between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.   All applications are due back in the County Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2020 or until the position is filled.  This position is subject to a veteran’s preference.  Merrick County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.



Notice is hereby given that meetings of the Merrick County Board of Equalization and Merrick County Board of Supervisors will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in the County Board Meeting Room, Merrick County Courthouse, Central City, Nebraska.  The Board of Supervisors meeting will begin at 9:05 a.m.  The County Board of Equalization meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Both meetings are open to the public.  Agendas for such meetings are kept continuously current and are available for public inspection at the office of the County Clerk in the Merrick County courthouse during normal business hours.

Notice is hereby given that the Merrick County Board of Supervisors will conduct a Public Auction at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2020, Supervisor’s Room, Third Floor, Merrick County Courthouse, Central City, Nebraska for the sale of the property listed below:

A tract of land comprising a part of the East Half (E1/2) of Section Twenty-One (21), Township Thirteen (13) North, Range Six (6) West of the 6th P.M. Merrick County, Nebraska, more particularly described as follows: 

First to ascertain the actual point of beginning, start at the Northeast corner of said Section Twenty-One (21); thence South 01°40’18” East along and upon the East line of said Section Twenty-One (21) a distance of Twenty-Three Hundred Eight (2,308.00) feet thence South 88°19’42” West a distance of Thirty-Three (33.00) feet; thence South 47°04’42” West a distance of Fourteen and Sixty-Eight Hundredths (14.68) feet to the actual point of beginning said point being on the West right-of-way line of State Highway #14; thence South 47°22’37” West a distance of Nine Hundred Sixteen and Ninety-Eight Hundredths (916.98) feet; thence South 25°52’54” East a distance of Seventeen Hundred Five and Ninety-one Hundredths (1,705.91) feet to a point on the West right-of-way line of State Highway #14; thence North 01°39’20” West along and upon the West right-of-way line of State Highway #14 a distance of Eighteen Hundred Thirty-Eight and Sixty Hundredths (1,838.60) feet; thence South 88°19’42” West a distance of Ten and Forty Hundredths (10.40) feet; thence North 01°30’07” West a distance of Two Hundred Ninety-Eight and Fifty Hundredths (298.50) feet; thence North 05°13’54” West a distance of Twenty-Three and Eighty-Seven Hundredths (23.87) feet to the actual point of beginning and containing 17.37 acres, more or less.

The property shall be sold to the highest bidder.  If no bids are received during the public sale, or if the bids received during the public sale are substantially lower than fair market value, the County Board reserves the right to reject all bids and negotiate a contract for sale of the property if such contract is in the best interest of the County.

100% of donations will be sent to the Central Nebraska Community Action Partnership for distribution to those in need.
